🌍 Why Did We Choose Esperanto?

We get this question a lot.

"Why Esperanto?"

Why not Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, or Kannada? Why not English or Sanskrit?
Why use a constructed language—a so-called ConLang—for the name of a serious project about mental wellness, trivia games, and happiness?

The answer is both philosophical and practical.

🌱 A Language for Everyone (and No One)

Esperanto was designed in the 19th century by L. L. Zamenhof, not as a utopian escape, but as a bridge. A neutral, easy-to-learn second language meant to promote global understanding—without colonial baggage, nationalist overtones, or profit-driven gatekeeping.

It’s not tied to any empire.
It’s not owned by any one community.
And that’s exactly why it’s perfect for Fulmo.

⚡ Lightning-Fast, Like Fulmo Itself

Esperanto’s structure is elegant, logical, and ridiculously learnable.
It’s the Python of languages—compact, clear, and almost impossible to misuse.

“Fulmo” means lightning.
“Batalshipoj” means battleships.
“La Ĝoja Filozofio” means The Joyful Philosophy.

Even without a course or app, most people can pick up Esperanto terms by osmosis. That’s the magic.

And let’s be honest: if we’d named it Happiness Battleship Extreme™… would that have felt as fun?

🧠 A Quiet Rebellion Against Linguistic Empire

By choosing Esperanto, we’re gently challenging the idea that only global superpowers get to define the terms of discourse—whether it’s in tech, philosophy, or play.

Most apps today default to English or Mandarin.
Most philosophy still defaults to Europe.
Most trivia games default to culturally biased content.

But Fulmo is building something else:
A globally inclusive, playfully philosophical, mental wellness-oriented platform that owes nothing to the usual hegemonies.

✨ The Promise of ConLangs

Esperanto is just the beginning.

We’re inspired by the idea that language itself is design—and that new languages can reflect new values.
What if future ConLangs are built to maximize joy?
To reduce miscommunication?
To better express emotional nuance?
To support neurodivergent communication patterns?

The door is wide open.

🌟 Why Not Just Use English?

Because language is never just a tool—it’s a lens.
And if we’re building a world where joy, resilience, and equity matter, we can’t afford to ignore the lens we’re using.

So no, you don’t need to learn Esperanto to play our games.
But by choosing Esperanto, we’re signaling something:

This is a different kind of project.
One that believes in inclusion without assimilation.
One that believes the future doesn’t have to sound like the past.

🚀 Fulmo’s ConLang Commitment

As we grow the Fulmo Games Hub and the La Ĝoja Projekto, our team is keeping an eye on ConLangs—not just as curiosities, but as possible tools for social good.

What if the next big advance in AI-human interaction isn’t just smarter models—but better languages?

We think that future might be… constructed.
On purpose. With joy.

And we’re here for it.

Join the conversation. Challenge your assumptions. And maybe, learn a word of Esperanto along the way.

After all, happiness is a universal language.
Let’s build the words for it together. 💚
